On the coast of California there is a hidden gem. It is indeed hidden so ask for directions. You can watch people with their trainers literally jump off a cliff and fly over the ocean utilizing the updrafts from the cliff's edge. Fun little detour. We took our children here 6, 4, 4 to watch the gliders and ended up doing it ourselves after seeing it for a while.
By Betsy Malloy. Black's Beach is at the base of foot-high sandstone cliffs. It's two miles long and as wide as 60 feet at low tide. As many as 1, people may show up at Black's Beach on a hot summer day.
Fun place to watch hang gliders take off, fly by,and land. It's a sunny and exposed cliff area with grassy seating and some benches. Be sure to take sun protection.
